The expressway network connecting the BioValley area to other areas of the CBFEZ encompasses the Gyeongbu Expressway and the Jungbu Expressway as well as National Highways 36 and 17.
The expressways connect centers of activity within the FEZ at the Cheongju IC on the Gyeongbu Expressway, and the Seocheongju IC and the Ochang IC on the Jungbu Expressway.
National highways include Route 36 connecting Osong, Cheongju and Solar Valley, and Route 17 connecting Cheongju and Aeropolis.
The New IT Valley sits alongside the Second Cheongju Beltway, which connects National Highways 36 and 17.
Railroad
The railroad network connecting the BioValley area to other regions within the FEZ include the Gyeongbu HSR and the Honam HSR as well as the Chungbuk Line, a national railway line.
Located with the Osong Complex is Osong Station, where the Honam HSR branches out of the Gyeongbu HSR, while Osong Station, Cheongju Station, Ogeunjang Station and Chungju Station on the Chungbuk Line are located adjacent to the centers of
activity.
Osong Station is the point at which the Honam HSR branches out of the Gyeongbu HSR and may be linked to the Gangwon region through a branch line to the Chungbuk Line.
Phase 1 development plan : the development of transfer station to the HSR network.
Indirectly link the HSR network to the Chungbuk Line through a transfer system at Osong KTX Station.
Develop the station area in order to utilize Osong Station as a major station for the Cheongju region and Sejong City.
Osong Station will have a total of ten tracks, including six (three in each direction) for the Gyeongbu HSR and four (two in each direction) for the Honam HSR, as well as two passenger platforms for the Gyeongbu HSR and two for the
Honam HSR, each measuring 11.0 m × 450.0 m.
Phase 2 development plan : build an X-shaped axis for the HSR at Osong Station.
Osong Station will have a total of fourteen tracks, including six (three in each direction) for the Gyeongbu HSR, four (two in each direction) for the Honam HSR, and four (two in each direction) for the Chungbuk Line as well as a total
of six passenger platforms.
Link the Honam HSR to the Chungbuk Line, the Gyeongbu HSR (the direction of Busan) to the Chungbuk Line, and the Honam HSR and the Gyeongbu HSR at certain points 3 to 5 km south of Osong Station.
Build a transportation park at a railroad site intended to directly connect the HSR lines to the Chungbuk Line.
Airport
Lying within the CBFEZ is Cheongju International Airport, the only international airport in the Jungbu region, which is within approximately forty minute distance from the BioValley area.
In particular, its convenient location allows the airport to serve as a gateway to Daejeon, Cheongju and Sejong.
