내용 - Yeon Byeong-gwon, the first recorder of the Chungcheongbuk-do Video Autobiography Project and former Chungcheongbuk-do branch manager of the Korean War Veterans Association, passed away -

On February 3, a special memorial was set up at the Cheongju Medical Center funeral home.

The solemn and earnest atmosphere was no different from any other memorial, but what caught the attention of the mourners was the monitor next to the portrait showing the deceased in life.

The person in the video was Yeon Byeong-gwon (94), the first subject of the Chungcheongbuk-do Video Autobiography Project actively promoted by the government.

He enlisted as an artillery soldier during the Korean War at the age of 19, worked as a school teacher for 46 years, and has served as the Chungcheongbuk-do branch manager of the Korean War Veterans Association since 2018.

Of particular note is his participation in the Video Autobiography Project, as he empathized with its purpose and took the initiative to become the first subject of the project last March.

Family members and mourners had the opportunity to reminisce and pay tribute to the deceased while watching the video autobiography, which vividly portrayed his life and contributions.

Governor of Chungcheongbuk-do Kim Young-hwan visited the funeral home on the 3rd and offered his condolences to the family, saying, "The video he recorded is of great significance to the historical records of Chungcheongbuk-do," stressing that "the recording of the veterans' appearances and life stories must be done quickly because most of them are elderly."

The Chungcheongbuk-do Video Autobiography Project was started out of the governor's personal belief that everyone should be able to record their life stories, and that the stories would be collected to form the history of Chungcheongbuk-do.

The project, which records and shares the life stories of ordinary people, has received great support from the public, with a total of 6,365 videos recorded to date.

These videos are permanently preserved as part of Chungcheongbuk-do's visual archive and are available to the public through the Chungcheongbuk-do Video Autobiography Project YouTube channel.
