Chungcheongbuk-do has set the amendment of the Central Inland Special Act ("Special Act") enacted last year as its primary goal and is accelerating work on the revision.

In order to complete the Central Inland Special Act, which is considered to be one of the greatest achievements in the history of Chungcheongbuk-do as it legalizes the responsibility for regional development, the government plans to propose an amendment in June, when the 22nd National Assembly begins, and aim to pass it in the plenary session before the end of the year.

To this end, the Central Inland Special Act Amendment Support TF, headed by the Administrative Deputy Governor, will focus on the expeditious preparation of amendments, identification of effective special cases and related projects, and active support for the preparation of the Enforcement Decree to ensure the successful amendment and enforcement of the Special Act.

At the TF meeting held on the 29th, Administrative Deputy Governor Jeong Seon-yong said, "I hope you will gather your wisdom and skills to prepare the amendment to the Special Act early and make it effective, and do your best to identify special cases and related projects under the supervision of each director."
To this end, starting in February, Chungcheongbuk-do will establish a special project identification team under department directors to identify special cases and related projects by field in cooperation with the Chungbuk Research Institute and other sponsored institutions. It will further examine the feasibility of the project and speed up follow-up measures for the Special Act.

In addition, the Chungcheongbuk-do Provincial Government plans to form a council with researchers from eight cities and provinces in the Central Inland Interconnected Development Region and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS). It will promote a comprehensive development plan with the participation of MOIS to support the implementation of the act and strengthen cooperation among cities and provinces.

A Chungcheongbuk-do official said, "We will focus our administrative capacity to successfully implement follow-up measures such as enactment of the Enforcement Decree, preparations for the amendment, and drawing up a comprehensive plan for the Central Inland Interconnected Development to ensure the successful implementation of the Special Act."
