-World’s first international competition online held-
-10 sports, 100 countries, over 3,000 participants-

The international martial arts competition online, taking place for the first time in the world, has finally unveiled its outline.

The World Martial Arts Mastership Committee (WMC) held the 2021 Interim Reporting on World Martial Arts Mastership Online at the main conference room of a provincial government building at 3 PM on the 23rd.

The 2021 World Martial Arts Mastership Online is planned for the development and promotion of world martial arts in the fields of international sports and martial arts, which have been sluggish due to the prolonged crisis of COVID-19.

Funded by the government this year, this project will provide a forum for the world’s martial arts artists to gather together by establishing an online platform, conducting relay broadcasting, and launching promotion.

At the interim reporting held today, not only Governor Lee Si-jong but also WMC staff, consultants, and agencies participated and discussed the development status and future direction of the World Martial Arts Mastership Online.

In particular, instead of face-to-face games by players on a stadium, all games and operation are held online, so the review on competition operation program, game operation system, and website establishment status and operation was conducted.

This will be the world’s first and largest online international martial arts competition where more than 3,000 people from over 100 countries in 10 sports participate including taekwondo and judo.

Its significance lies in exchanging martial arts culture and information all around the world and providing a forum and an opportunity for a new martial arts competition requiring No visa, No passport, and No airline ticket and liberating people from COVID-19.
Especially, it is very meaningful as martial arts trainees from underdeveloped countries can participate in the world competition online as freely as possible.

Through this competition, WMC strives to upgrade the status of WMC and promote Chungcheongbuk-do, Korea as an IT powerhouse by creating suitable conditions for relay broadcasting and game plays despite the difficult environment by establishing an online platform (competition operation program, game operation system).

Meanwhile, securing the position of standing advisory committee in the field of UNESCO sports this March and leaping toward the global stage, WMC is prudently reviewing the long-term online world martial arts mastership, WMC convention, and establishment of Metaverse platform, which is emerging as a new industry.

The preliminary match of the 2021 World Martial Arts Mastership Online will be held through an online platform in September, and the finals will be held from October 28 to November 2 at the Grand Plaza Cheongju Hotel Studio.
